This site is the official home of the Common Core State Standards.  It is hosted and maintained by the CCSSO and the NGA Center. It provideds parents, educators, policymakers, journalists and others easy access to the actual standards, as well as supporting information and resources.


Illustrative Mathematics

Illustrative Mathematics is a discerning community of educators dedicated to the coherent learning of mathematics. We collaborate at illustrativemathematics.org, sharing carefully vetted resources for teachers and teacher leaders to give our children an understanding of mathematics and skill in using it. We provide expert guidance to states and districts working to improve mathematics education.

Inside Mathematics has worked closely with mathematics education leaders involved in the creation of the national Common Core State Standards for Mathematics to align the resources of this site with the national standards. Our goal is to guide and support educators in learning the Common Core framework and relate it to teaching practice and students’ learning. The nonlinear nature of web-based resources will support educators in building deeper understanding of what the Common Core Standards look like in practice, with a goal of building robust mathematical thinking in all students.

Implementing the Mathematical Practice Standards is an EDC project funded by the National Science Foundation to develop Illustrations of the Mathematical Practices and a professional development curriculum for teachers in grades 5–10.

Progressions Documents for the Common Core Math Standards

The Progressions for the common Core State Standard are updated versions of those early progression drafts, revised and edited to correspond with the Standards by members of the original Progresssions work team, toghether with other mathematicians and education researchers not involved in the initial writing. They note key connections among standards, point out cognitive difficulties and pedagogical solutions, and give more detail on particularly knotty areas of the mathematics.

Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC)

SBAC is a state-led consortium working to develop next-generation assessments that accurately measure student progress towarde college and career readiness. SBACA is one of two multistate consortia awarding funding frmo the U.S. Department of Education in 2010 to develop an assessment stsytem aligned to the Common Core State Standards by the 2014-2015 school year.

This tool, developed by the Council of Chief State School Officers, summarizes current research and promising practices about what teachers need to know and be able to do in order to teach college and career ready standards. This resource was made possible through support from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
